The Afanc is a tentacled creature that lurks within Llyn Llydaw in Wales. It was there during the time of King Arthur when it attempted to drag Sirs Kay and Bedivere to their doom while Shalott, an Aes Sidhe witch, insisted it was just trying to make friends with humans.
The Afanc creature is described as having tentacles and is 'wriggly'[Pan 1].
Known to the Aes Sidhe as a friendly, curious creature that doesn't know its own strength, the beast is often attacking humans that stray too close to the waters of its lake. Most humans seem to believe that the beast is hungry and aggressive[Pan 1].

When Merlin the Younger, Sirs Bedivere and Kay and the Aes Sidhe witch Shalott arrive on Mount Snowdon, they were tasked with watching for the rising of Camelot from the Irish Sea. The Afanc was drawn by their presence and the knights were told to keep an eye on Llyn Llydaw in case the Afanc burst up out of it. When they were distracted by the rising spaceship above Ireland, the Afance saw its opportunity to attack the knights and managed to grab Sir Kay while Sir Bedivere tried to distract the Afanc by building a giant wooden rabbit[Pan 1].
