The First Order was founded out of the remains of the Galactic Empire of the Milky Way, and other Imperial warlords, after the New Republic became the dominant force in the Perseus Arm. Many from the New Republic, and its former state as the Rebellion, formed the Resistance against the First Order. The founder of the First Order was Sue'san Dienhand, one of the separatist warlords.

The First Order replaced the Galactic Empire of the Milky Way on the G8 and were one of the factions that agreed to destroy the weapon of mass destruction, the God-Killer, of The Imperium. Their ships arrived with the others of the G8, barring The Imperium, in the Tress system where the God-Killer was still under construction at the Great Eiyill spacestation[Tales 1].
